  • Back-End Engineer

    Located in Austin, Texas, we specialize in providing our video streaming platform to clients looking to provide high quality and performant streaming services to their vendors! Our education product is geared toward creating engaging learning/teaching environments for students and teachers alike. We are a fully funded startup and are looking for people who are looking for somewhere to stay for the long-term!

    We are looking for a skilled Senior Back-End Engineer with a strong background in Node.js, RESTful APIs, microservices and distributed applications. You will be working on the core back-end service for our product building out features, squashing bugs and helping make excellent tools for online education and learning. We work collaboratively in a team here so someone with this mentality will really love it here!

    What You Will Be Doing

    • - Building feature sets for our education platform within our existing backend service
    • - Fixing and troubleshooting any bugs in our code

  • UX Designer

    At ChalkCast, we are building a virtual classroom tool. We believe that all students, no matter their circumstances, should have resources to reach their highest potential. We believe that educators, no matter where they teach, should have the toolkit to inspire and drive learning. No matter the device or geographic location, our technology delivers a personal and interactive experience - connecting people and ideas in real time.

    As a User Experience Designer, you will help design a top-notch user experience for teachers and students in hybrid and virtual settings. You will perform UX research that will provide insights and recommendations to the team that will help us build the highest quality product for our customers. You will also bridge into UX design and prototyping to test and evaluate iterative improvements to our platform.

    What You Will Be Doing

    • UX Research
    • - Conduct semi-structured interviews with teachers and students
    • - Design and deploy surveys to gain both qualitative and quantitative data on our customers
    • - Perform competitive analysis to determine areas of improvement that give us a competitive advantage in the education market
    • - Design and lead usability studies to gain both qualitative and quantitative data on our platform’s user experience
    • - Analyze customer feedback and app performance
    • UX Design
    • - Synthesize data and create research artifacts that inform product roadmap and design such as experience maps, customer journeys, personas, etc.
    • - Work with product team and other UX designer(s) to help define requirements for new features and make recommendations for improving existing features
    • - Generate wireframes and low-fidelity prototypes in Figma that can be tested with users
    • - Generate high-fidelity mockups and prototypes in Figma that can be tested with users and handed off to engineering

    You should have

    • - 2-3 years of hands-on UX design for software applications
    • - A solid grasp of human-centered design, planning and conducting user research, usability testing, and A/B testing
    • - 1-2 years experience with Figma

    Nice to haves

    • - Passionate about educational technology and learning in general
    • - Open to being a “full-stack designer” meaning becoming proficient at the entire design process from UX research to design and prototyping
    • - Degree in User Experience Design, Human Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Experimental Psychology, or Cognitive Science
